Hervé DI ROSA was born in Sète in 1959. He participated in the movement called the Free Figuration with his friend Robert COMBAS. His paintings are very colorful and illustrative related codes of comics.

Hervé DI ROSA was born in Sète 17 December 1959.


In 1978, he left his hometown to Paris, where he settled with his friend and painter Robert Combas. DI ROSA enrolled at the National School of Decorative Arts and made his first paintings.


It uses non-traditional images, simple, colorful and illustrative, images closely linked to the comic codes, revival of painting in the 1980s, often taking a painting to comics, to rock and graffiti. This is the birth of the movement Figuration Libre.


Together with his brother Richard, sculptor, he designed numerous facilities including the largest "Viva Di Rosa" is presented in 1988 at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.


In 1993, Hervé DI ROSA undertaking a world tour during which he will conduct a series of studies using cultures and modes of expression of each country of temporary residence. The first series, "Dirosaicones" is set in 1993 at the FIAC on the stand of the Galerie Louis Carré.


The second set is made in Ghana where Hervé DI ROSA visits in 1994.


In 1998, he completed a volcanic scoria mosaic and white coral debris for Reunion. On the occasion of the World Cup football that year, he painted eight paintings on this theme and participated in the exhibition "80 artists around the world" at the Enrico Navarra Gallery. At the FIAC this year, he has to shell lacquer panels of pearl inlays and eggs made in Viet Nam.


In 2000, he founded the international museum of modest Arts in Sète.


In 2003, he moved to Miami.


In 2012 he exhibited his large to ENCAN space of La Rochelle.


In 2014, he established the "Modest Tropics" at the Quai Branly Museum.
